2K Games has welcomed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to oversee the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the forthcoming over-the-shoulder roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.
Management Change Follows Mixed Feedback
Brinkman takes on the leadership position at the development studio following the dismissal of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' lackluster early showing last autumn.
Recently, the company's top executive a key figure updated team members about this decision through an official communication, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had indicated the necessity for a more defined game identity.
Ismailer noted that the team is now reimagining Project Ethos with a renewed approach, aiming to address gamer demands.
A Pattern of Key Hires
The news mirrors a similar move taken by the publisher in August, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to assist with the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

Ben’s guidance and background in the PVP shooter genre is extensive, having dedicated the recent years creating and managing some of the most recognizable titles in gaming, such as the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, the battle royale hit.

Brinkman presently holds the role of senior developer and production lead at the renowned studio for their flagship title. He previously was employed at major gaming companies in multiple development positions on the iconic franchise games, and, earlier in his career, had assignments at other industry leaders.

Project Ethos was revealed in October 2024 alongside a public demo. At the time, the developers described the title as a "no-cost, 3rd-person roguelike hero shooter and an innovative evolution on the category."
